As a 20-year construction professional with one heck of a CV, my husband, Dan Reilly started like any other carpenter with a humble carpentry apprenticeship. From there, Dan moved into high-end shop and restaurant fit-outs and currently sits as a licensed Master Builder within his own business. Commanding battalions of tradies on TV as “Foreman Dan” on Nine’s The Block is fun, but on a day to day basis Dan specialises in and is passionate about, high-end residential projects.
With a background in banking, I (Dani Wales) made my first appearance on national television as a contestant on Nine’s, The Block. With a newly sparked interest in all things media, I went onto co-host home & lifestyle series, Healthy Homes Australia and in the same year, cofounded a business that would allow me to further my knowledge, skills, and passion in not only design and construction but also leadership, strategy, and content creation.
Sure The Block may have been the catalyst at which Dan and I went on to co-found Red Door Project, an end to end Architectural Drafting, Interior Design and Residential Construction offering based in Melbourne, but Dan and I definitely didn’t “fall into” what we do now.
With multiple TV and media interests still entertaining our day to day lives, along with the successful operation of Red Door Project, Dan and I know a thing or two about personal brand and content creation and how to use it to position a brand within its desired market.
